In late 2007, a European GSM mobile Operator, selected OpenCloud Rhino as the core platform for their next generation intelligent network (NG-IN) Service Control Point (SCP). As this was an SCP replacement project, the new SCP had to be able to continue to provide their customers with a full GSM mobile service offering.

The NG-IN provides them with a new, open, standards-based platform for agile service development at a significantly lower price-point to that offered by their legacy SCP. In view of the maturity of the European GSM market, our customer also wanted to be able to segment their customer base and produce a wide range of targeted service variants – quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively.

The Rhino NG-IN provides our customer with:

1. A range of services to boost roaming revenues, such as steering roamers to their network, roamer welcome messages, roaming voice mail “trombone” elimination.
2. A range of next generation pre-pay features that augment the existing prepaid platform, such as shared prepaid accounts across groups such as families, small businesses etc, favourite number discount schemes, reverse charging, location-based charging, converged pre and post pay etc.
3. A range of advanced value added messaging services such as messaging accounting services, black and white lists for operators and subscribers, spam protection, reporting and so on.
