OpenCloud to show how to make smarter, richer telecom services at Mobile World Congress 2011
February 10 2011,
Cambridge, UK, 10 February 2011 (Hall 2, stand 2C88) – At Mobile World Congress 2011, OpenCloud will be showcasing its network convergence technology, including Rhino Visual Service Architect (VSA). VSA is a comprehensive graphical design suite which supports the design, test, support and maintenance of classic and next-generation services. OpenCloud will also be demonstrating Rhino Companion, a suite of single number services for Google Android phones on an IP telecom network.
Rhino VSA represents a step-change in service conceptualisation and realisation for telecom service development. By producing standard Java code, Rhino VSA enables designers to harness the power and flexibility of Java-level development whilst creating services visually, by drag and drop, click to connect and configure options. Furthermore, unlike other solutions, the designer can also move back and forth between the GUI design environment and Java code as required. Using VSA, the designer can compose new blocks of telecom functionality, test them and then re-use them in many services. Services created using VSA are also genuinely portable.
OpenCloud believes that the combination of smartphones and a next generation service layer provides Network Operators with a unique opportunity to create new services that deliver an enhanced user experience, increase use and increase customer loyalty. Using Rhino Companion, OpenCloud are pleased to show just what is possible when network-side intelligence is combined with the power of a smartphone. Rhino Companion, a suite of Google Android and Rhino-based services, provides a single number service for use within a small number of people, such as workers or friends. Rhino Companion also provides location and mapping capabilities, which are closely integrated with inbound and outbound service personalisation rules.
“OpenCloud is demonstrating two very important principles at the show,” said Jeff Gordon, CEO at OpenCloud. “First, mobile network operators have a unique position in the service delivery chain to provide a superior service to their customers by adding network intelligence to the power of the smartphone. Second, by using modern telecom service development environment, developers can deliver targeted services much quicker and at lower cost than has been possible previously. Customers expect smarter and more intelligent services, and it is essential for operators to be able to design and launch these services quickly and to adapt them in response to user feedback. The OpenCloud product set enables operators to conceive and then create compelling, differentiated revenue-generating services.”
The OpenCloud stand at this year’s Mobile World Congress, is located in Hall 2, stand 2C88.
